Great North Run 2026

Every year, thousands of people take on the Great North Run. This year, you can make every mile count for refugees and people seeking asylum across the North East.

At a time when our work is facing increasing hostility and negative rhetoric, running the Great North Run for WERS is a simple, practical way to stand alongside it.

Already got a place?
If you’ve secured your own place, you can still run for us!

Set up your page on the official Great North Run fundraising platform, select West End Refugee Service, and you’re good to go.

There’s no minimum fundraising target, just raise what you can!

We’ve got 5 places
We’ve secured a small number of charity places this year.

If you’d like to take one on, we’re looking for individuals who are up for the challenge and willing to raise around £1,000.

It’s not about getting everything perfect. It’s about showing up and making it count!

Next step
Email us at info@wers.org.uk with:

  • Your name

  • Whether you already have a place or would like one

  • A short line on why you’d like to run for WERS

We’ll come back to you quickly and take it from there!
