WERS could not carry out the work we do without our fantastic team of volunteers who support us to deliver our case work and drop-in support and provide volunteering mentoring for our gardening, skillsmatch and social inclusion projects. 

 Volunteer Roles


  • Support Worker

    Do you have experience delivering support, advice and guidance?

    We would love to hear from you. You will see people at weekly Drop-in Sessions and support people them with any issues and queries they have, provide information, signpost to services and help people access support the are entitled to.

  • Skillsmatch Mentor

    In this role, you will form a vital connection to a participant, offering tailored support to enhance their employability. Based on their skills, interests and goals you will help the participant access suitable opportunities in the community such as voluntary roles and work experience.

    If you have experience and knowledge of a sector, you will guide individuals through the process of applying for roles and refining their CV in order to reach opportunities in your specialist area, drawing on any contacts you may have. If not, you are still welcome to join the skillsmatch team!

  • Administrator

    You will undertake administrative tasks to support all WERS projects, support work and operations.

    Tasks will include record keeping, data-entry, desk research and filing. We are looking for individuals who can offer a few hours one morning or afternoon a week and are comfortable using Microsoft Office packages.

  • Communication & Website Volunteers

    We are looking for individuals with an interest in web design, communications, awareness raising and PR to work on WERS’ communications with its clients, supporters and stakeholders.

    You will be available to offer a few hours one morning or afternoon a week.

  • Activities & Connections

    Activities & Connections

    You will support the Activities Coordinator to partner with organisations to deliver a varied programme of wellbeing activities and social opportunities - ensuring activities are accessible for people seeking asylum and refugees.

    You will attend ad-hoc events and activities to support attendees and ensure they receive a warm welcome, as well as liaising with WERS volunteers and staff.

  • Garden

    Garden

    We believe that gardening and gentle outdoor work is great for mental and physical health and wellbeing. The garden provides a warm, friendly space for gardening and also meet new friends. We ensure that everyone feels included and welcome, and that all our volunteers can learn and develop at the pace that suits them.

    As a volunteer you will be involved in process of maintaining of garden and help it to be beautiful and cozy place.

  • Community Fundraising

    Community Fundraising

    We are actively seeking volunteers to assist in setting up and coordinating our fundraising events. Whether you have event planning experience or are eager to learn, we welcome your enthusiasm and dedication.

    Your involvement will play a key role in making our 25th-anniversary a great opportunity to raise awareness of challenges faced by the forcibly displaced community.

WERS runs the Induction Sessions for new volunteers every 2 months (March, May, July, September, November).
