Vision, Mission & Values

The new Vision, Mission and Values were collaboratively developed throughout 2019, using feedback from Trustees, staff, volunteers and clients to ensure that a broad set of views were reflected in the strategic direction of WERS.

Our Vision:

Safe, healthy and fulfilling lives for people who are asylum seekers and refugees.

Our Mission:

Our passionate and committed team of staff and volunteers will endeavour to make a positive, lasting difference in the lives of asylum seekers and refugees. We will do this by providing supportive and empowering services and opportunities which are responsive to people’s needs, showing them dignity and respect. We will raise awareness, educate and positively challenge discrimination and negative perceptions towards asylum seekers and refugees.

Our Values:

• Equality – We recognise that all people are equal and we celebrate our differences
• Respect – We show respect and promote it within our communities
• Inclusion – We work in an open, accountable and inclusive way
• Collaboration – We recognise the strength and benefits of collaborative working

Together, these statements provide direction for everything that happens in WERS, keeping everyone focused on what we’re trying to achieve. They define the core values of the organisation and how people are expected to behave. They are not intended to restrict or inhibit initiative and innovation, but they are intended to guide decisions and behaviours to achieve common ends.
